Farm and Play Activities at Uppergate Farm

The range of animals we have on the farm varies according to the time of year. There are always several cows, calves, chickens, ducks, sheep, rabbits and geese. Between the months of April and October we usually have young pigs running in the woodland and around April/May we normally have newborn lambs; some suckling their mothers and others being bottle fed.

The animals and hens are used to people and are very child friendly. All guests are welcome to help feed the stock in the mornings at 8am and at dusk – it usually takes about 30 minutes. We also collect the eggs from our 300 free range hens at 10.30 each morning and again guests are more than welcome to take part in this activity; collecting and then grading the eggs also takes about half an hour.

We have an outdoor play area on the edge of the farm near the animals with swings, a slide and other outdoor toys for smaller children. We also have an indoor ‘play shed’ for guests to use that has table tennis; table football and a miniature snooker table.

In each cottage and in our guests’ lounge we have a wide selection of games, books, suggested walks, cycle rides and other activities.
